The Flange

The flange is a kind of mechanical parts, it is a component that connects shafts and tubes to each other, and can also connect two equipment. Its connection method is to fix two pipes, fittings, or equipment on a flange first, and then between the two flanges to add flange pads, bolted together, completed the connection.

The main materials for making flanges are: stainless steel, carbon steel, low temperature carbon steel etc. According to the connection method of flange and pipe, it can be divided into: flat welding flange, butt welding flange, threaded flange, Socket welding flange and loose flange. And its method of sealing has RF, FM, MFM, TG, FF and RJ.

There are four production processes for flanges: casting, forging, cutting and rolling. Among them, the flange produced by forging has the accurate shape and size, the processing volume is small, the forgings are streamlined, the structure is relatively dense, and the mechanical properties are better than the other methods.

Due to its good toughness and corrosion resistance, flanges are mainly used in: petroleum, chemical, construction, electric power, aerospace, shipbuilding and other fields.
