Carbon steel flanges should pay special attention to three points when making

- Jan 30, 2020-

Carbon steel flanges are disc-shaped parts that are common in pipeline engineering. Carbon steel flanges are threaded (wired) flanges and welded flanges. Low-pressure small-diameter wire-bonded flanges, high-pressure and low-pressure large diameters are all welded flanges. The thickness of carbon steel flanges of different pressures and the diameter and number of connecting bolts are different. In the article on flange connection instructions, we can see that the flanges are mainly used in pipeline engineering for the connection between pipes. In the pipelines that need to be connected, a variety of carbon steel flanges are installed, and the low-pressure pipelines can use wire-bonded flanges, and the welding flanges are used at pressures above 4 kg. A sealing point is added between the two carbon steel flanges and then bolted.

Be sure to pay attention to the following points when making carbon steel flanges.

  1. The steel plate shall be ultrasonically inspected without delamination defects;

  2. It should be cut into strips along the rolling direction of the steel, brazed and welded into a ring, and the surface of the steel forms a cylindrical surface. Steel plates shall not be directly machined into neck flanges;

3. The butt weld of the ring shall be fully penetration welded; the use of carbon steel bolts does not necessarily require the addition of insulating gaskets and sleeves, plus the insulating gaskets and sleeves are only used for fluids that may be charged or in the pipeline. It is a flammable and explosive occasion. In this case, stainless steel bolts should be added with insulating gaskets and sleeves.
