What is the use of the flange?

- Jul 30, 2019-

Because the flange has good comprehensive performance, it is widely used in chemical engineering, construction, water supply, drainage, petroleum, light and heavy industry, refrigeration, sanitation, plumbing, fire protection, electric power, aerospace, shipbuilding and other basic projects.

There are two main systems for the international pipe flange standard, namely the European pipe flange system represented by German DIN (including the former Soviet Union) and the American pipe flange system represented by the American ANSI pipe flange. In addition, there are Japanese JIS pipe flanges, but they are generally only used for public works in petrochemical plants, and have little impact internationally. The introduction of the national pipe flanges is as follows: European system pipe flanges represented by Germany and the former Soviet Union; American system pipe flange standards, represented by ANSI B16.5 and ANSI B 16.47; British and French pipe flange standards Both countries have two casing flange standards.

In summary, the internationally accepted pipe flange standard can be summarized as two different, non-interchangeable pipe flange systems: a European pipe flange system represented by Germany; the other is represented by the United States. American pipe flange system.

The flange is the part of the shaft and the shaft that is connected to each other for the connection between the pipe ends. So what is a flange connection? Flange connection is to fix two pipes, fittings or equipment to a flange, then add a flange pad between the two flanges, and finally tighten the two flanges with bolts. A detachable joint that is tightly coupled.

The connection between the flange and the pipe should meet the following requirements: the center of the pipe and the flange should be on the same horizontal line; the center of the pipe should be perpendicular to the sealing surface of the flange at 90 degrees; the position of the flange bolts on the pipe should be consistent.

For gasket flange gaskets, the requirements are as follows: in the same pipe, the gaskets with the same pressure should be the same, so that they can be exchanged later; for pipes with rubber sheets, the gaskets are also preferably rubber. For example, the water line; the principle of selection of the gasket is: as close as possible to the small width selection, which is the principle that should be followed in the premise that the gasket will not be crushed.

Connect the flange to check whether the specifications of the flange, bolt and gasket meet the requirements; the sealing surface should be kept smooth and tidy, and there should be no burrs; the thread of the bolt should be complete and there should be no defects, the fitting should be natural; the texture of the gasket should be flexible. It is not easy to aging, the surface is not damaged, wrinkles, scratches and other defects; before assembling the flange, the flange should be cleaned to remove oil, dust, rust and other debris, and the sealing line is clean.

Finally, the flange of the flange should be perpendicular to the center of the pipe; the bolts of the same specification should be installed in the same direction; the flanges installed on the branch pipe should be installed at a distance of more than 100 mm from the outer wall of the riser. The distance between the walls should be 200 mm or more; do not bury the flange directly in the ground and it is easy to be corroded. If it must be buried underground, it must be treated with anti-corrosion treatment.
