How flange manufacturers judge cast carbon steel flanges and forged carbon steel flanges
The following methods can be used to distinguish between cast carbon steel flanges and forged carbon steel flanges:
1. Price: Flanges sold in the market are cheaper to cast, followed by casting and forging, and compared with pure forging, the price is higher.
2. Flange size and finish: The negative tolerance of cast carbon steel flanges on the market is generally 1-5mm, the edges are chamfered irregularly, the burrs on the side holes are not smooth, and the forged carbon steel flanges have small or positive tolerances.
3. Analysis of disconnected flange: cut the flange in half, cast flange has trachoma, pure forged flange has no trachoma. Cracks can sometimes be found in cast flanges.
4. Flange toughness analysis: Cast iron carbon steel flanges have poor toughness and can be cracked with a hammer. The flange material is generally close to low carbon, or it will be easily cracked if welded.
